I updated my windows 7 system to windows 10. After the update the SAMSUNG SH-222AL CD/DVD optical drive works only as a CD, the DVD and writer function stopped working. I need a new win 10 driver and do not know where to get the new driver. Does anyone know where to go?

Just curious does Device manager show error ?
Have you tried this..
Boot to the Windows 10 desktop, then launch Device Manager by pressing Windows key + X and clicking Device Manager. Expand DVD/CD-ROM drives, right-click the optical drive listed, then click Uninstall. Exit Device Manager then restart your computer. Windows 10 will detect the drive then reinstall it

If I may chime in folks
Is it possible that the version of Windows 10 does not have the required media player included, not all of them do and that is why MS have it for sale here if this is the case, rather than purchase anything go the free route with VLC for playing media and Express Burn for creating it, the latter ironically available from MS for free

After doing more research on my CD/DVD I realized that the problem is related to the drive being a light scribe device. I used light scribe and liked it but the disks are getting expensive. So, I will just replace the drive.
Thanks for your help but time to move on to a different drive.
