However the Eset online scanner desktop icons are still there. Should I run an uninstall process ?

You did not create a fixlist before you ran the fix ...
ix result of Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (x64) Version: 24-10-2020Ran by SandeepandJaya (25-10-2020 14:25:57) Run:4Running from C:\Users\SandeepandJaya\DesktopLoaded Profiles: SandeepandJayaBoot Mode: Normal==============================================fixlist content:**********************************==== End of Fixlog 14:25:57 ====
.... if you had, then they would be listed under the section I've highlighted in red in your fixlog. If they're not there, then you didn't save them before running the fix.
Please run the fix again following closely the instructions I gave in post #45 ... http://www.geekstogo...-3#entry2653905
If it doesn't work next time, then I'll give you a different set of instructions, but please try those again first.

Apologies. I think it has worked. ESet has disappeared. Here is the Fix log...

Yes, that's what I expected to see.
So .... provided everything is now running OK, then it's about time we removed FRST and the files it has created.
To uninstall FRST and remove all its files, please do the following ...
- Rename FRST64.exe to Uninstall.exe
- Double click on Uninstall.exe to launch it.
- Your computer will reboot, and on reboot will remove FRST and all its files.

Done. FRST has 'disappeared 'off my desktop.

In that case, unless you have any outstanding problems that need resolving, then as far as I'm concerned we're finished.
Keep safe.

Hello Gary, Thanks a lot for all your help. One final question...should I be running regular virus scans with Windows Defender ?
#56
Posted 28 October 2020 - 05:24 PM
Windows Defender is real time protection (it's on all the time) so no need to run manual scans, it will notify you if anything is detected.
If it comforts you to run regular manual scans, then feel free to do so, but it's not strictly necessary.
