Hi,

I have a Night Owl 8 Video Camera System with Night Vision and my C S Power Supply for the DVR stopped

working properly (the DVR hard drive kept restarting constantly from lack of power so, as instructed in 

troubleshooting, I plugged the Camera power supply (there are 2 each supply 4 cameras) that is slightly different

for testing purposes only and the DVR worked fine).

 

So, I ordered a new C S Power Supply online and I received an I.T.E. Power Supply in its place (the one I received

was not the one ordered from the picture displayed online).These are the differences...

 

C S Power Supply 

Model: CS-1202000

Input: 100-140v-1.5A Max. 50/60Hz

Output: 12V    2A

Efficiency Level: V 

 

I.T.E. Power Supply

Model: CY-122000

Input: 100-140v-1A Max. 50/60Hz

Output: 12V    2A

Efficiency Level: VI 

 

My questions are, can I use this I.T.E. Power Supply in place of the C S power Supply?

What is the difference between them?

(If the trouble is lack of power, the Inputs are different the original is 1.5A and the ordered one is 1A,

The Efficiency are different also, the original is V and the ordered one is VI).

Looks like it should work.  All the DVR cares about is the output 12 V 2 A (and that the connector and polarity are the same.  The ITE claims to be more efficient which may account for the fact its input current rating is lower than the CS.  The thing we can't see from the ratings is the quality of the DC output.  Is it smooth and ripple free?  No way to tell.  But it should not hurt to try it.

Hi RKinner,

The connector and polarity are the same (center positive, outer negative). I had not even thought of asking Night Owl. And, I purchased it from a "Best Buy" web site, (Not sure they are third party).

Hi RKinner,

I have run into the issue that although the Power Supply works to run the DVR and record. The Power Supply won't allow me to review playback in normal, 2x, 4x, 8x, or 16x speed to review footage, the DVR just freezes and powers off. I'm just going to search for a proper Power Supply and use this one until I get one.

Hi...With the iFi DC control supplies, you've got to take care with the amp rating. It’s Alright for a control supply to have the next amp rating than your gadget. But it cannot have a lower amp esteem. The same is genuine for the wattage. The 12 volt iFi control supply as it were handles 1.8 amps. Numerous of the cable modems and switches require more than 1.8 amps. That’s why the Waveform Lighting control supply worked so well for me. I fair requested another one nowadays.
