Hello,

I recently hard a hard drive crash and had to reinstall my Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OS from scratch.  This is the exact OS I had on my old drive.  On my old drive I was able to right click a file and scan with windows defender.  I could also scan with Malwarebytes that I have installed.  After installing Windows and Malwarebytes, I can still scan with Malwarebytes, but the option for scanning with Windows defender/security is missing from the right click context menu.  I have attached a screenshot of how my context menu is now.

Any ideas how to get this back?

Thanks

Scomar.

You can use the attached batch script to add "Scan with Windows Defender" to context menu.

Thanks for the reply and BAT file.  I installed the BAT file under my user account (set as administrator).  I went to a file and right clicked an the scan with defender was there.  I clicked on scan with defender and a pop-up displayed saying the IT administrator prevents you from going to this page (or something similar to that).  I figured I would installi it under the admin account, rebooted, but didn't work as it did not show the scan with defender in the context menu.  I tried to reinstall under user account again.  It appears it is installing, but I do not see scan with defender in the context menu as I did the very first time I installed it.

In reviewing the BAT file, although I do not understand the how the programming works, I do see the registry keys being altered.  I have attached how these registry keys currently appear after trying to install.

Any ideas?
