I'm building a desktop PC, the last step is to install the OS which is Windows XP Professional SP3 32-bit.
I can't install it because the installer halts with the following message: The file viaide.sys is corrupt and it requires the user to press a key to reboot. At first I thought it was the hard drive (Quantum Fireball, 20GB, jumper set on Master), but then I replaced it with a 160GB Segate and got the same error. Then I thought it was the installer (I made it with WinSetupFromUSB on a 20GB Maxtor drive attached via USB through an adapter), so I made another installer on my 8GB USB flash drive and got the same error.
The mainboard is a WinFast 760-M02-GX-6LS (AMD) I don't know what CPU socket is this but it has a AGP slot, so I guess it's something equivalent to Intel-478. It has 1 RAM module, 1GB DDR-400 and a GeForce 6200-LE. The CPU is a AMD Sempron 2600+
