I hit the wrong key and Firefox downloaded the latest version Pure junk making many parts of the pc unusable. I tried going to restore for an older date but it tells me "successful" which it is not, or that it can not complete the restore. Is there a fix for this?

Go into Safe Mode and start the System Restore.
When it reboots, go back into Safe Mode to let it finish doing the System Restore.
Now reboot up into regular mode.
