Ahoy.

I'm using an HP Pavilion laptop of mature age (but with lots of new RAM) running XP and I'm finding it completely impossible to take a screen print, either by using the PRT SC button or via CTRL+P/CTRL+V or Windows Button+PRT SC or Fn+Windows Button+Spacer bar.  It's as if something has been switched off to render screen printing impossible.  And yet if I'm copying and pasting text, everything works fine, so it's not as if the board has been deactivated somehow.

I seem to remember years ago reading something about XP being unfriendly to screen printing, yet there seem to be plenty of people out there on the Web who consider that it's perfectly possible.

Is there something I need to activate?  Like for instance my own brain?

Thanks.

Press [PrtScn] to copy the current screen into the Windows Clipboard

Open MSPaint and press [Ctrl][V] to paste in what you copied into above.

Unfortunately my laptop doesn't have MSPaint on it.  I'm beginning to get a sinking feeling here. Am I stuffed beyond all hope of rescue?

Try Greenshot. It's a free app that can be configured to save full screen screenshots to the desktop and more options.
