I tried to install some FREE DVD player software from Download.com and my pc got badly hickjacked. I was able to remove a lot using ad-aware6, S&D and Grisoft in safe mode, but still have a explorer windows opening each couple of minutes.

Here is the logo from HickJackThis:

Welcome to GTG DarkGandalf <_<

You gotta watch what you download. It should of said that the product you downloaded contained apyware and/or adware on the download page at download.com.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure. Please move Hijack This to a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please Download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and Run the Program. Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows. Check the "I know what I'm doing" Button and remove all traces of [calsp.dll].

Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu). Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following:

C:\Program Files\Toolbar\
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\3cmlink.exe
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\pctptt.exe
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\internat.exe

Next, please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = res://C:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar\toolbar.dll/sa
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,CustomizeSearch = res://C:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar\toolbar.dll/sa
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 auto.search.msn.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 search.netscape.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 ieautosearch
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {339BB23F-A864-48C0-A59F-29EA915965EC} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CountrySelection] pctptt.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [internat.exe] internat.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, and let us know how your system's working. :D
