After Dec 6, 2021 I stopped receiving emails.  Outlook would not send or receive and, get this, the email on my Iphone would not receive emails either.  After resetting the passwords and making sure email and passwords were correct I still could not get email.  Finally went to the Yahoo website and was able to get email there using the same email address and passwords.  I was able to get the Iphone to use the Yahoo email to start getting email on my phone.  Note: I really don't have a yahoo email address, it's a Bellsouth.net email but that seems to work for now.  I still can't get email to work on the PC with Outlook.  I have even deleted the email account in Outlook and tried adding it back.  I get the "Something went wrong message.  We couldn't log on to the incoming (IMAP) server.  Please check your email address and password and try again." All the settings in Outlook match what is working on the web site.  I have called Bellsouth and they say it is an Internet service issue.  The Internet service says it is a Bellsouth issue, and of course you can't get Microsoft to help.

I have Windows 10 and Office 365.

Any ideas, help would be appreciated

Are you using the correct settings?  https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN4075.html

Make sure you do not have a firewall that is blocking connection.  Also that you are not using a VPN.

Have you tried creating an account on yahoo and see if that works.  How about a gmail account?  If you get gmail to work you can tell gmail to read your bellsouth mail.  See if that works.

Settings look correct.  Just like the web page

Same thing happens with or without the VPN

The bellsouth account works on Yahoo.  I can get my email there but I would like to get Outlook to work like it did on Dec 6 and before.

If you don't have one, get a gmail account:

https://support.goog...wer/56256?hl=en

Then see if you can get gmail to read your bellsouth account.  This is for yahoo but should be about the same:

https://smallbusines...mail-46217.html

That will tell us if the problem is in Outlook or with the Yahoo server.

I do have a gmail email and I am trying to add the bellsouth email and there is a small problem.  It wants a username.  I have never needed a username for that email.  I have tried several and so far haven't found the correct one.  There aren't that many that it could be.  I have looked at the account on yahoo and it has my name but doesn't have a username.  AT@T does have a username and that one did not work.  Gmail doesn't like it with my name, you cannot use a space, and I have tried it without a space.  I tried using the email address and the name before bellsouth.net and they don't work. I have tried leaving it blank and it didn't like that either.

It's difficult when something works for so many years and then it just stops working.

Thanks

Username is the part before the @ in the email address.

Assume you have also tried the full email address?

If you want to send me a private message with your info I can try it on my system.  Otherwise we can move this to Malware and run FRST so I can see what your system looks like.

Well, I was thinking.  I have done the same thing with Yahoo mail and set up the email there.  Isn't that the same thing are trying with Gmail?  I know the email and password I use for it is correct.  I need Outlook to recognize the email and password that I know is correct.

I think I might know what happened now.  I think my Norton stuff did an update and that is causing things to not connect.  Some web pages are saying they cannot connect.  Not sure how to fix it though,

Your Internet access is blocked

Firewall or antivirus software may have blocked the connection.

Norton has a firewall and you can turn it off to see if that makes a difference.

https://support.nort...tions/v64908971

If that helps you can add an exception:
