Something else:

If you upgrade to Windows 10, do not install any 3rd party antivirus. The built-in antivirus (Windows Defender) is good enough to protect you. Third-party antivirus often cause problems.

Hi, mimogg.

If your computer had no operating system installed when you bought it and if you haven't got a genuine valid key to activate any Windows version or edition, then you can't activate Windows. You have to buy a licence.

Here is an article about using Windows without activation: How long can you use Windows 10 without Activation? (thewindowsclub.com)

For me, the most critical is the last one, talking about not getting updates. It is important always to keep current with the latest security fixes from Microsoft. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can infect your computer.

It is your computer, so your decision. However, as I told you, I can't provide assistance until you legally activate Windows. Regardless of the Forum's Rules, there is no actual reason to fix a not activated operating system.

I warned you that you need a Retail and not a Volume licence. Some sellers sell Volume licenses, which are mainly used by large companies, to ordinary users. They claim that they sell in a low price, but this type of licenses may cause issues at a later stage. In other words, they are not legal for ordinary users. So, if you don't buy from Microsoft directly, make sure that the license you are getting is Retail.

This may give a sign:

  • Press Windows icon on your Desktop, together with the letter R.
  • Type cmd, and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to run Command Prompt as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following command and press Enter:
slmgr /dli
  • After running the command, you will get a report. Please take a screenshot of what you got and attach it in your next reply. Here is an article where you can see how do you take a screenshot with the snipping tool, in case you need it.

The licence seems to be fine and I have no reason to doubt about it. Besides, I'm not a policeman. :)

I would like to see fresh FRST logs, please. Addition and FRST.

Since there are still signs of activation issues, I am closing this topic.

Please activate your operating system with a valid Retail licence. Until then, here at Geeks to Go Forum we cannot provide to you any assistance.

Also, have in mind that if you really have a RAT, and reformatting, re-installing the OS and re-flashing the BIOS doesn't help, then a technician must see "live" your computer/router and advise you what to do.

Take care.
