My desktop outlook program is hanging on sync folders when I open it up. I never liked syncing and so is there a way to fix this or get rid of sync all together?

Yes, use Microsoft's Outlook.com instead.

You asked if you could "get rid of sync all together" and Outlook.com doesn't need to sync. ;)

As far as trying to fix the one you have, you could try a repair. Tap the [Winkey], type in appwiz.cpl and press [Enter]. Scroll down and right-click Microsoft Office and select Change. Click Yes, then click Repair.

The Windows Key - The key on the keyboard with the Microsoft Windows Logo on it.
