Recently I got an email from source I deal with stating I had an invoice. I opened it but it was unreadable. I replied to ask what it was about. I was told the email account had been hacked and to delete the email. I was annoyed that I had opened it already.
Nothing happened for a couple of weeks. Then my PC turned itself on last evening and the initial picture was different. My desktop picture was gone altogether and some files had disappeared. I reloaded them from a backup hard drive but they disappear after each reboot and the n all files were gone!. Some programs like Zoom keep disappearing & Google acts like I've just installed it when I open it after I reboot. Windows mail has also disappeared.
Did I download a virus from the email or was that a coincidence? I followed your advice about how to do a scan. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
