I have a Lenovo laptop, Intel ® Core i5-7200  64 bit running Windows 10 Pro version 21H2

I have been having driver problems with a printer and found out it was probably the result of an update so did a system restore

After the restore, I get an application box error for TrayApp.msi  "The feature you are using is on a network resource that is unavailable" and gives me a file name

C:\user\ruthcox\app data\local\temp\7zS69\set-up\Trayapp

I can't close it, I can't access the internet via any of my browsers so I can't run any diagnostics    I am using a different computer to plead for help

How do i get rid of this ?

Thank you

No personal experience of your problem, so the following advice is based on what I'd try if this was happening on my machine.

The file being flagged ... C:\user\ruthcox\app data\local\temp\7zS69\set-up\Trayapp ... is running from a Temp directory, so can almost certainly be safely deleted.

Go to .... C:\user\ruthcox\app data\local\temp ..... and delete the folder .... 7zS69

If it refuses to delete, it will be because it is in use, in which case reboot your computer and try again.

Alternatively, have you tried re-installing your printer's software ?

thank you for your replies!

SleepyDude:    I have searched for TrayApp  and TrayApp.msi in my computer and was UTL

GaryR:  I searched the temp folder for file named 7zS69 and was UTL  so then I created one hoping i could use it and then delete it after it downloaded but that didn't work

Don't know what you mean by UTL.

So, if you can't find things manually, please do the following ....

  • If you have a 32 bit system Download FRST to your Desktop.
  • If you have a 64 bit system Download FRST64 to your Desktop.
  • If you don't know whether your system is 32 bit or 64 bit, download both. Only one will run on your machine. That's the one to use.

Now ....

  • Double click Frst64.exe to launch it.
  • FRST will start to run.
  • When the tool opens click Yes to the disclaimer.
  • Copy/Paste or Type the following line into the Search: box.

TrayApp.msi

  • Press the Search Files button.
  • When finished searching a log will open on your Desktop ... Search.txt
  • Please post it in your next reply.

RESOLVED ! ! !

Found a Microsoft support troubleshooter that was able to remove the app!   (

I've rebooted and re-installed my printer -  keeping my fingers crossed all is well from this point forward.

Thank you all sooo very much for your support and suggestions!
