Just got a niggling problem with my sound; nearly every time I boot up there isn’t any. I go to control panel ‘sound’ and check that the correct playback device is selected, which it is; in this case ‘M- audio M- track 2X2’, but no sound.

 

If I click on ‘configure’, I see it is on ‘stereo’ but only the left speaker icon is showing sound. The device is enabled and set at full volume. (32bit 4800Hz). Sometimes whilst ‘testing’, the volume will turn itself on and things are normal, but it is more likely that I will have to disconnect/connect the M-Audio usb before it will start. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi, sorry for the long delay. I thought the problem had disappeared. I went through all the listed possible fixes and everything seemed to check out. The gaps between having the problem are longer than before though I have just seen the message 'The device is being used by another application' pop up when there was no sound. (Whilst checking the settings, the sound came on). The problem is I don't know which application it was referring to. I'll just carry on and hope to find a clue if it persists. Thanks.
