I just bought a new PC with all new different components so I can upgrade.  My old PC has a 1TB SSD which was my boot and main drive.  The new PC has a 500GB SSD as the main boot drive and a 1TB SATA drive which I am fine with, but I also want to use my 1TB SSD as another drive in the new PC.  What do I have to do to use my 1TB SSD from the old PC in my new PC?

 

Will I have to reformat the 1TB SSD and install Windows 10 on that too even if I am not using it as a main boot drive?

 

If I have to reformat the 1TB SSD, how can I backup and transfer the data from the 1TB SSD to the 1TB SATA on the new PC ?

No.

 

After fitting the drive in the new PC on the very first power up you need to go into the BIOS and make sure that the SSD to which you refer is not enabled as a boot device, things could get messy if you fail to do exactly this.

 

The Windows OS on the present drive can actually be kept as your back up for any possible future emergency.
