<_< upgraded to xp was running me, now I get error message on startup osa9.exe bad image. can not open excel or word, get same message. office 2000 professional uninstallled and reinstalled same problem adaware and spyot in place norton up to date. please help

You can safely remove the OSA9.exe file without causing the Office 2000 programs to fail. However, if you remove OSA9.exe, you no longer benefit from the performance advantages that are provided by running OSA9.exe. Also, the Office Shortcut Bar (OSB) and Find Fast may not longer automatically start if you configured the OSB and Find Fast to start when Windows starts (see the notes for the command-line switches later in this article).

I can help you fix this but first follow these simple steps.

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.
