I am running a Dell desktop running Windows 10 that has an older processor that won't work on Windows 11. I purchased an updated Dell system with Windows 11 pro and a 512gb MVMe drive.  My old system has a 250gb ssd.  I was going to use Macrium reflect to clone my old hd but am not sure how to do it or if it can be done...I just don't want to include the old Windows 10 OS.

I would appreciate suggestions...Thanks!

A clone will give you the windows 10 system onto the new system and wipe out windows 11.

What are you trying to achieve?

Thanks for the reply...My intention is copying all my programs and documents and install them on the new Windows 11 drive.  It would save me several hours of work...

The copyrighted programs I will re-install with my legal cd's

The bad news is clone will not do that.

All programs will have to be reinstalled. You may have one or two that will copy but most won't.

If you have a modem/router that you can plug both computers into - or wifi will do just slower.

I would setup a network share and copy folders that way.

If you want to try this method and need help to set it up let me know.

You can also take the ssd out of the desktop and using the proper cable attach it to the new computer and copy your data from old to new.

You can also take the ssd out of the desktop and using the proper cable attach it to the new computer and copy your data from old to new.

This is also an option that you can use by either connecting the win 10 disk with a cable https://www.umart.co...8UaAsGSEALw_wcB

Or use an enclosure https://www.umart.co...-se101-bk-39644

or mounting it inside the new computer.

You will have to be comfortable with taking the drive out of the old computer.

To Network share this site shows how with pics. Go to Option 2 Advanced sharing.

Could you post the service tag numbers for both the old and the new computers.

https://www.dell.com...ate-service-tag

The link to the cable and the enclosure are in Australia however it will give you an idea on what to look for locally.

If you post the service tag numbers it will help with instructions if you decide to connect the old drive with the new computer

It shows the new one to be a small form factor.

The old one shows all 3 form factors.

When you look at the pic on this page which one is yours?

If you go for the option of installing the old drive into the new computer.

First read Page 7 about ESD.

Then start at page 18. Remove front Bezel

https://dl.dell.com/...?language=en-us

To remove the drive from the old computer start at page 15

I have copied my docs and pics to the new system...all is well but I have another question.  The old system with win 10 is on a 250 gb ssd,,,why can't I put that ssd into my new pc and use it as a data disc and remove the

windows 10 OS and access my programs with the Win 11 os on the NVMe drive???
