Hello stefm,

We are going to need to be able to check the specs and source the correct drivers, for this we will need the exact model name or number of the notebook + the serial number.

when i did a hard drive detection it does find the ssd.

What finds the SSD.

Can I ask how the SSD is identified in the BIOS, a WD Black SSD for example would look like SDDPNQD-512G, other brands will have similar identification codes, only when such an ID code is present is a HDD or SSD actually detected and an entry simply listed as SATA HDD or SSD means that the BIOS will and has looked for a drive in that particular boot sequence but no none was detected.

the BIOS detects

PCIe 1.0 WD_Black SN770 1TB 23396L801773,

SATA 0.0 Toshiba MQ04ABF100 12BJPFKWT

Once I try to install windows 11 I get  "Select location to install Windows 11" and it only gives me the USB drive option only

thank you

The SSD is clearly identified so that one off the checklist;

See " how to " disable secure boot on a HP notebook info here

While you are in the BIOS, make sure that your USB device is first on the boot list and be sure to save the settings before exiting the BIOS.

You are welcome btw  :)

Do you not see Boot Options anywhere.

As it says at the HP link provided " All HP computers manufactured with Windows 11 and 10 come with Secure Boot enabled by default." which means that Secure Boot is there somewhere.

Do you think that the SSD drive needs to be partitioned and formatted.

Thats the only thing I can think of

If the SSD is out of the wrapper new there should be nothing on it, please confirm that both are correct.

Are you saying that you are still not able to start the Windows installation.

Windows formats a drive as part of the installation process and until you actually install stuff onto a new drive there is just the one partition present.

Good that you have mentioned partitions as once you have Windows and the system drivers installed that is what I recommend you do.

Sorry to hear that you are still having problems.

If you think that it will help follow those steps but before you do can I ask if you have enabled Legacy mode in the BIOS, normally done when you disable secure boot and allows USB devices to be recognised as bootable devices etc.

Can you take and upload some pictures of the options that you get in the BIOS.
