Shut down the system and open the case.. If the monitor is connected to a card that is installed in one of the slots on the mobo it is a separate card..

This is your chipset driver..

http://www.j-mark.com/dl/viaosr2.exe

and this is the driver straight from them..

ftp://61.30.14.92/driver/601vga_wme_3114.zip

BTW.. your video card is integrated unless someone installed an add-on!!

It's integrated.

I got high color 16 bit to show up on the settings part of display. but when I restart I get a screen that says

there is a problem with your display settings. The adapter type is incorrect, or the current settings do not work with your hardware.

Also after I change the color settings it tells me I have to resart to apply the changes and asks me if I want to restart now. Which is normal, but then when it tries to restart it just turns off and I have to press the restart button on the tower. Then it asks me if I want to start in safe mode. I always just choose normal mode.

If the drivers for that card aren't being installed, then I would suggest getting a stand-alone card..

It would benefit you two ways:

1: Definite drivers for the card and, if you ever have to reformat again, you don't go through all this process and;

2: It frees up whatever system memory the integrated card is stealing for it's use!!

Thanks but I would rather have been able to figure out why the srivers for your card wouldn't work but, I do think you will be way farther ahead with an add-on vid card!! :tazz:
