The problem I am having with the game is that when I turn on "Helmet Mapping" (light reflections off the helmets), the players and people on the sideline turn mostly white. They would not give me support because my Intel 82845G chipset is an "unsupported video chipset". My system does met all the system requirements by far, the problem is the chipset. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks a lot!

Probably a video driver issue. Try the latest video driver from Intel

Intel Extreme Graphics? Well you probably know the Intel video chipset is just marginal for gaming. You're likely to have problems with newer games, or when enabling high-end graphic features. If you're going to be serious about gaming you'll need a seperate video card (if your motherboard supports it). Something like an nVidia FX5200-5600, or ATI 9200-9600 would play most games pretty well at high resolution and detail. For Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 you're probably going to need some pretty serious hardware (ATI 9700Pro-9800, nVidia 5900-5950).

I downloaded the latest drivers. I agree with you on the chipset's gaming ability. I don't need a fancy video card because I am not a serious gamer. "Intel Extreme Graphics?"; I don't know what exactly you mean when you asked that. Are you being sarcastic or are you asking me if that's my graphics? If you're asking, yes, your right. Would updating my chipset help any?

I've built some system using that chipset, and it makes an extremely fast and stable system. I just take exception with the way Intel chooses to market the graphics ability--"Extreme 3D Graphics" its not.

The only way to change your chipset is to change your motherboard. If updating the video driver doesn't do it, maybe try looking for a patch from EA.

Hey, don't be dissin' my Intel Extreme Graphics, just kidding . The Intel 82845G graphics chipset is actually not that bad, and is fine for the everyday user, who's not a heavy gamer, like me. My Intel 82845G is awesome comparing to the last graphics on a computer I used, some cheap integrated 8 MB VIA chipset stuff. My current graphics chipset is about as good as my cousin's ATI Radeon 7200 while playing the game. Is that about right? When I said "Would updating my chipset help any?", I meant "Would updating my chipset driver help any?", my bad. That's was my question.

I updated my version of Madden NFL 2003. The biggest graphics improvement happened when I downloaded the latest video drivers and DirectX 9.0B. I now see a noticable difference in graphics, much better.

I know, I'm a snob. I have a 9800PRO with a P4 overclocked to 3.51ghz, and another system with a 9700PRO and a stock P4 at 2.6ghz. I like to game at 1600x1200, or 1280x1024 with game details cranked all the way up, and with 3D quality settings at high. Once you've seen how good games can look, it's very hard to go back.
