I can't check but it should be the same for both windows media player and Quictime. This is what you do in window media player. You first open the toots menu up the top of the windows media player windows and click options (if you have the menu bar hidden right click the top of the windows and a little drop down list will apear and you can click tool than options). Then chose the file type tab and untick all the types you don't want windows media player to use. A the same thing should work in Quick time thought I don't have it install to check. I you turn of the file types in windows media player before you install Quick Time it should detect this and take the right action. :tazz:

Ok try this, go to that control panel and open Add/Remove programs and on the left of the window chose Set program acess and Defaults. Open the drop down list called custom and under media player set the one you wan't as the default and then untick allow acess to this program next to Windows Media player, this will prevent anything from trying to open Winodws Media Player

sorry I can't help any more, I don't know of any thing else that would help execpt you could try posting a topic in that malware foram and tell the person that answers to treat Windows Media player like a vrirs. they should know how to remove something. And after wards reinstall it. And as to loseing the CD try asking Mirosoft for a replacement, they might give you one.
