Fatal Exception OE

My Daughters IBM 300pl keeps on crashing with this Blue screen of death.
A fatal exception has occured @ 0167:BFF90B7.
Any ideas how to fnd & fix problem?
She also gets random freezes.
Win 98se.
Onboard Video.
550mHz Pentium
128mb ram.

Fatal errors on Win98 could be related to almost anything and fixing them can sometimes be a real pain. A lot of times it relates to a driver problem and reinstalling various drivers might help... ie, video, sound.

You could try...

Start>Shutdown>Restart in Dos (something like that... I'm on Win2k right now)

When the computer restarts, you will be at a Dos prompt.

Type in scanreg /restore (note the space between scanreg and the forward slash)

Scanreg will run and you will be given a few choices with restore dates.

Choose the oldest one and hopefully thing will work out.

If you get an error that the restore point can't be used, choose another point.
