Geek to go is where the real help is.. I have nothing but good to say about this community, so to keep us all entertained here’s my newest woe..

I just switched to AVG because my free Symantec was due to run out… which yielded

C:\HIBERFIL.SYS Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\NTUSER.DAT Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\ntuser.dat.LOG Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\WINDOWS\USRCLASS.DAT Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\WINDOWS\UsrClass.dat.LOG Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\NTUSER.DAT Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\ntuser.dat.LOG Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\WINDOWS\USRCLASS.DAT Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\WINDOWS\UsrClass.dat.LOG Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\OWNER\NTUSER.DAT Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\OWNER\ntuser.dat.LOG Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\OWNER\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\WINDOWS\USRCLASS.DAT Cannot open; not checked!
C:\Documents and Settings\OWNER\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\WINDOWS\UsrClass.dat.LOG Cannot open; not checked!
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSCMTS~1.EXE repaired
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM.LOG Cannot open; not checked!

For I have received a warning (not verbatim)

Trojan horse found: c:\\sytem volume information\_restore\fdf7e18d-3514-4652-098ff2520e1}\rp109aoo15551.exe

So I guess I need to delete the c:\\…\ rp109aoo15551.exe ? And then deal with the “not checked”?

Thanks in advance for your help..

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

I don't see anything else to be concerned about <_<
