I am working on a Gateway 2000 solo notebook model 2300. I bought a Dlink network adapter (Wired version) but did not have a cdrom drive for it (and my external cdrom will not work on it probably becouse of the drivers too) so i DLed the official drivers from Dlink and put them on a floppy (shudder) and installed them that way. But when Windows tries to finish installing the drivers, it crashes hard. Have to power down and then back up again. Should I try installing win2000 or reinstall 98? It has 64mb memory and a 4gb hd.

Hello, welcome to GTG. From what you told me, it appears as if your computer meets the minumum system requirements for Windows 2000. More information on the system requirements can be found here. Personally, I would reinstall Windows 98. Since I do not know what you use your computer for mostly, I can not give a yes or no answer. After you decide what to do, if you still require assistance on this problem, post a reply to this thread. If your ploblem is fixed, post that to the forum. If you require help on a different matter, please start a new thread.

I ordered the minidock plus and hooked it up. I was able to get on the internet and from there everything worked great. Thanks for the help, though.
