Hi,

May i first add this site is amazing and have told so many people about it. I am about to start my second year in Uni and am studying Computer Science Bsc. I am going to join the helpers as soon as i can actually help, lol! At Uni we use a dual boot system and i prefer Linux for my programming and etc. I want to keep Windows for my games but want to get used to Linux.

Can anyone help me carry this out? It would be greatly appreciated.

Here are my system Specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 4000+
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Hard Drive: 320 GB NVIDIA STRIPE 298.10G
OS: Windows XP

1) Choose what distro you want (see here for more info).

2) Download it, and burn the ISO to a CD/CD's/DVD.

3) Boot from the disc.

4) It will let lead you through steps to make a new partition for Linux and then install it.

hi,
i'm very new with linux, now i try to install it (suse 9.3) with windows xp sp2, i use partition magic to partitioned hdd and make multiboot (i make it at slave hdd for linux), is it correct? i'm worry to do some mistake.

Should be fine. Just remember to back up any Windows files you need before installing any other OS.

you can also use lilo to to allow to booting to a folder which holds another Operating system

so u get a dual boot systenm that is at the beginning contrlled by linux

and us can aslo use Netraverse Win4Lin to have windows in a box in thelinux desktop
