I hope i can explain this so you will understand...
I have just got a new comp pentium 4.. 2.8gh 512mb ram using XP home...I am with tiscali 1mb and have my computer in a room upstairs the main line is down stairs split connected with the house phone and main modem......upstairs is a phone extension where I connect my modem (tiscali adsl ) .... my problem is when I connect to the net my phone does not work..now this was ok for 4 years with my previous comp.now when I need to use the phone I have to disconnect the adsl adapter from the phone box connection upstairs before the phone will work..
what have I done wrong cause all the connections are the same as before.
hope this makes sense cause I am confused!!! :tazz: ;)

Howdy and welcome to G2G:

Have you installed a DSL filter on the phone line itself (the one you phone is plugged into) ??

When using DSL, every normal phone line that can be used for a telephone connection needs a DSL filter when a phone is plugged into it!!

yip there is a filter on the main line downstairs ( the wee white box you stick in first then your computer and telephone) one upstairs (extension) that takes the adsl modem and phone line to comp...
these filters were not moved or touched I only took out the phone connection on my old computer and connected to new.
sagem software was loaded on to new comp and everything works ok its just the phone line is engaged when using the net which shouldnt happen I have to remove filter from telephone extension box before anyone can use the phone otherwise no one can get through or use telephone...

I am not even gonna read this through I just only hope you can understand a Scotsman.

ach aye the noo laddie !!!!!

The filter should only go on the telephone line nothing else..

If you are plugging in the filter and then the splitter, that won't work..
