I am running Windows ME. I had a rebuilt Dell hard drive, so I dont have any of the software that was originally installed on it. I had downloaded a screensaver and it ran fine for a week or so, then the blue screen one morning saying that the screensaver caused whatever. Then I tried to use system restore. It went back and things were fine. Then I booted up one morning and didnt have some of my system files. I cannot use restore, it wont let me. When I click on programs, accessories or anything, they are empty. I dont have any disks remember, so I have been getting some things back by reinstalling from the internet. I also lost my volume . I am all out of answers. I can get on the internet. Can you help? Just if you tell me how to get restore to restore!
Thanks

If you can use the find function look for a folder named Install, which is where ME keeps the installation files. It may be in C:\windows\options. It should have the cabinet files and you can use it to make any repairs. Most installations of ME retain them.

I saw a site that had the file lists for all the versions of Windows, but I don't have the link. I'm sure you can find it with Google.
