  • Prepare CWShredder:
    • Download CWShredder.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Do not run it yet. We will run it later.
  • Run Symantec's BackDoor Removal Tool:
    • Download the Backdoor.Agent.B Removal Tool from Symantec.
    • Follow Symantec's instructions for how to run it.
    • Be sure to save the log file. I will need to see it later.
    • Restart your computer.
  • Run CWShredder. Be sure to click Fix as opposed to Scan Only. It should find some things and remove them.
  • Restart your computer once more.
  • Post a new HijackThis log and the log Symantec's tool gave you.
Regards,

Pieter

In accordance with Metallica's instructions, I have performed all steps indicated, and provide the resulting logs, below.

Please note: No problems were found by Backdoor.Agent.B or by CWShredder, so I am not including saved logs from either search. However, after running Spybot 3 times (and selcting "update" and "immunize" after the first and second run and selecting "fix problems" after each run) a problem called "DSO Exploit" continues to recur. I did perform a "restart" after running each Spybot "fix."

Also, I notice now, after having performed the steps indicated by Metallica, that when I log on to the internet, I'm getting a message that Spybot is indicating that something called "DoubleClick" wants to be downloaded. I am selecting the option to disallow that download.

So, I would appreciate any help you can offer to address my "DSO Exploit" and "Double Click" problems, as well as any problems you might see in the HJT and Spybot logs, below. Thank you !!

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked
