Silly DI.AK infection

I have done everything you said but I can not delete the mobster files. My computer is so slow right now, that I had to use another one to write this message. When I try to delete the mobster file it says cannot find file tenibew.tmp. I found the hidden files and tried to delete them and the tenibew.tmp says it cannot delete it is being used by another person or program. The webinet file says it cannot delete because it maybe copyrighted. I had all programs closed and I was in safe mode. What should I do now?

I tried all of the steps one more time and I think it worked this time. I want to thank everyone so much for all the help they are giving me. My computers speed is back up for now. I'm not sure if everything elsr is fixed but lets hope. Here is my new log...

My internet just closed on me again with Dr. Watson Postmotem Debugger. It is going faster now, but still have the internet closing problem. I am really thankful you guys are here to help.

We've seen more than our share of these. I've determined the most likely cause is installing SP2 when you have a malware infection on your system. It's very important to have a clean system when installing SP2. I suspect this is the major cause of most failed SP2 installations. It also seems that SpySweeper has a bug that is occurs on some clean systems.

Back to your log. Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Launcher.exe

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin
Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :tazz:

I now have no home page but, I think that you meant for that to happen. I have a new file !Submit It has webinet and teniweb.tmp inside it. I don't know if that means anything. Here is my new log...

Oh yeah, I do not know what the SP2 is, so I am not sure if we downloaded it or not. So far so good on not having any problems but we'll see.

:tazz: I figured out that the SP2 is the sevice pack I updated to. My computer is running great right now. Faster than ever and no internet closing in a while. I really want to thank everyone for their help. Do you see anything else in my last log that needs fixed? Is the new !Submit file normal and do I need to do anything with it? Thank you guys so much for your help. ;) I am loving my computer again instead of wanting to pick it up and throw it. Oh yeah, one more thing, can I put yahoo back as a homepage or should I not have a homepage?

This is just your antivirus doing it's job.

Go ahead and reset your homepage to Yahoo, or whatever you'd like.

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use) Click Here.

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox Posted Image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

Hi,
Sorry to bother you again. It is not causing any problems yet, but when my computer goes to sleep and I start using it again I am still getting this message from my eTrust Antivius telling me I might have a virus. This is what it says...

Virus Name: Win32.SillyDl.AK

When I do a scan there are no viruses found. Just wanted to see if this means anything. Is there anything I need to do?
