okay this has happened so much lately, i want to know wot type of person does this

anot 2 weeks ago my mum went to sydney leaving me the car, so i could finally drive to uni in comfort as opposed to taking the bus

i drive to uni, its early there is plenty of good parking, in fact there were only about 20 parked cars on that level of the lot so it was pretty [bleep] empty,

after i park the car in a nice spot i goto the ticket machine, there i see a woman parking her car in an illegal space just ext to the machine, seh gets out of the car leaving the door open and the keys in the ignition, with the engine still turned on

she spends about 5 minutes rummaging through her purse looking for change, when at any moment her car could get stolen, very easily, and what really bugs me is that it would have been no trouble at all for her to park her car one minute away from the machine, or to atleast turn off the ignition and take out the keys.

the next day im visiting my sister who just got her wisdom teeth removed, as im leaving her place i see a lady from australia post park her van, once again leaving the dorr open, keys in ignition and engine on, she went to get someone to sign for a package, this time i waited for her and i asked, whjy do you leave the car on like that, (especially in that neighbourhood, it isnt the nicest), she told me that shes okay, she can see the car every second, i told her regardless of whetther or not she can see the car shes still to far away to do anything, all somoene has to do is jump in, tak the car off park and hit the peddle, she didnt listen she said it was ridiculous to worry about something like that

3 days later im at my sisters again, this time i leave her place at about 10 PM, its completely dark as i leave i see a cab driver stoppin is taxi, parking across the road, once again, dorr open, keys in ignition and engine on, he goes to the apartment building nex to my sisters house and rings the bell, waiting for the guy to answer the intercomm, i asked him same question, he says he does it all the time, i asked if it was ever stolen, he says a few attempts have been made but he always catches the person before they get away, id expect ed stop doung it after one attempt, he loses the cab, he loses his job, he cant support for wotever family he does have.

and again TODAY, i went outside my place to take the garbage out before the truck comes to collect it, and i see anther van same situation

WHAT KIND OF PERSON DOES THIS?!?!

I leave my keys in the ignition all the time, and I'm not stupid. The idiot who takes my car won't get very far, especially with gas prices now. (I think my main car has another 10 miles to go before the "low fuel" light comes on! What concerns me is that you are in the University?? You are a college student? Is English your first or second language?

second, and my english is pretty good, its my typing skills that need work (also my keyboard sometimes leavs out a letter when i type)

also im talking about good cars here, the first chick had a brand new toyota, cab driver and the 2 vans werent great but if they were stolen the people wouldve definately lost their jobs, the australia post women especially, she had a van full f packages

if, as you say, your car wont get thieves very far then fine, just as long as you realize, if your car is stolen they dont have to keep it, they can simply drive it till it stops, then trash it, either way it would still end up costing you

They take car drive away ten miles somewhere safe and quiet gut your car of everything valuable, wheels, radio and battery and then they burn it to help cover there tracks. You should never leave your keys in the ignition for all it takes to take them out it also saves fuel and the environment.

On this side of the pond if someone wants to steal your car, you are better off letting them have it rather than frustrating them with locks. It is better to get a description of the suspect than to get in the way. BTPH, my apologies for the snippy comment earlier.

If it is any consolation more and more people carry telephones which can take photos, for that reason alone it is going to become slightly more difficult to commit clear crimes such as pinching cars and the like, for that reason I have my children carry one each and the number of the police just in case; also, when I travel I always take a photo of my bags just in case they don't arrive with me on the flight or are stolen. Now although it is not foolpruff(is that how it's spelt)it does help in explaining to others later if anything happens.
