Having a problem with system, cannot completely uninstall modem, put in brand new modem and still getting same error message as when delting modem
ERROR MESSAGE
Windows could not load the installer for modem please contact hardware vendor.

I have tried to unistall in safe mode, install new but everytime even under different profiles still getting same error.
ANY SUGGESTIONS????

us robotics 5699 was origional replaced with 5660a

I cant load any drivers, i get to where i can add then it gives me this error, i never even get to where I can select drivers, i am in USA. I tried using origional disk and removing modem itself, its almost like xp is holding onto modem settings and not allowing any changes to be made.
I will download them, are they auto install or are they selectable drivers?

Run these before you download the driver

Click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up, then from system tools, run disc defragmenter.

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD and get a blue bar, after the bar goes, reboot.

did not fix problem. I cant even uninstall the option in device manager in safe mode.....ugh
