C# is a good one, with lots of tutorials and notes here:
http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/
There are several free compilers online too; the MS SDK is very nice and comes with the compiler, framework, etc., too and all are free:
http://msdn.microsof...es/default.aspx
It would be well worth your time to learn the simple things first (the C-like aspects and then the objects seems the best path IMO, but others disagree thinking to start with an object mindset first ), then expand your knowledge over time, learn something that will be directly applicable to client, server, or network applications over time and will be marketable for you in the future.
Or you could do something like PHP (+ MySQL) with similar immediate applications for web and enterprise stuff too...
** just sharing some ideas and thoughts that may help **

Try Programmer's Heaven
They have a lot of free compilers, interpreters and developers tools and articles
for developers of open source and off the beaten path OS's.

Java is the easiest programming language to learn and is the easiest one to use for simple programs. I think http://java.sun.com/...2/download.html do tutorials but I'm not sure. It's also where you download Java
