This may be posted in the wrong place,if so i apologise and ask to please move it to somewhere appropriate.

I am having a problem with mails being sent to me which are pornographic in nature. The titles don't seem like it when you look but they are when opened. The titles in the mails seem to be picking up on some of the info on my PC as certain words like my lady's first name and may other specific details too are used in the titles.

I have blocked and deleted Every single one of them but they still get through.I am something of a novice on a PC but try my best and can find NO solution to this. This started when i fell out with a member in a forum i moderate on and he did it on others too.He i believe has stopped this now but i think something has jumped onto the bandwagon and is harvesting my details. The others have large networks and broadband routers-I don't.

I find material like this very offensive and i'm on dial-up and all this often blocks my mailbox for a while.

Is there anything that I can do with my PC to stop this ?[i don't mind learning] or is there some other course of action i should take ?
Again all my thanks to anyone who helps.

it seems that you have spam. What email do you use? Spamguard should automatically send them to your junk mail folder. You can then go to the options and have your email automatically delete junk mail when they arrive.

Well my OS is XP Pro and i'm running IE 6 and Outlook Express for my mail but am thinking of changing both browser and mail to firefox and the mail client for it[can't remember].

I use AVG free and that scans my mails I also have other anti malware apps lie A squared and adaware and spybot and others too.I have no idea if AVG free can be configured to intercept spam as frankly it confused me at the time.Is this "Spamguard" an app ? or part of my OS ? Is it free as i cannot buy over the internet as i have no cards[credit or debit]

I have worked out a lot of my own problems myself but i really know very little about how to configure an app to handle SPAM.BTW the ones i blocked still get through somehow and end up in my "deleted items" folder.I notice that AVG puts the word Spam in the header of each mail but some of them are important and not unsolicited mail,so i have to look at them and can't just delete all spam.

I hope that helps to answer your question as to what i use and thanks for the reply as i really need to get on top of this. :tazz:

Normally I don't recommend Thunderbird, but it's adaptive SPAM filtering feature may be EXACTLY what you're looking for.

It does work wonders, though it takes a while for it to work correctly.

(For the record, I don't normally suggest Thunderbird because it isn't especially "better" than most stuff out there)
