compatibility of itunes and mytunes

I just had my harddrive re-installed and I have to re-install all of my programs. I want to install itunes and be able to share music with people on my network. I know that mytunes redux can do this, as I used to have that application. However, now that I'm re-installing things, I'm running into problems with itunes and mytunes not being compatible with eachother to share music and add it to my library. Do I need to download an older version of itunes (instead of the latest itunes version 6) in order for it to work? As far as I know, there's only version 1.0 of mytunes and I think that it might only be compatible with versions 4.1-4.7 of itunes, but am not sure. Also, where would I download an old version of itunes? Everywhere I've looked offers only the newest version. Thanks!
