It can't be a virus, since I reinstalled Windows. It can't be a software problem, since neither work when I use a Linux Live-boot CD. The sound card works fine, since I get sound when using an external speaker. It can't be the BIOS, since I've upgraded it and the problem remains.
The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8100. Running XP Profession now, but it was Home edition before I formatted it. My teacher used it about 8 hours a day for about 5 days a week. And who knows how long the overheating issue was going on. This thing was getting up to 60 degrees celcius.
I think that fried the speakers and touchpad. What do y'all think?
