Hello; I've been on my computer for hours trying to get it like new. Several issues have happened since I let someone use it (I guess I'll blame him.. :tazz: ). I just finished a full-system restore (twice), but yet I seam to have spyware/adaware and virus(s) issues.

I run with Windows XP and Server Pack 1; I assume it's not a good idea to upgrade to SP2 untill everything seams ok. Why is it that my previouse anti-virus program (PC Cillin) detected no viruses before the full-restore?

November 26, 2005

  • Ran Ad-Aware scan. Three objects where found: Win32.TrojanDownloader.ConHook; as: C:\WINDOWS\system32\mllji.dll
  • Ran CleanUp, then restarted and logged back in.
  • Ad-Aware automatically scans before "desktop, icons, ect..load (sorry, don't know how to explain this). Surprisingly 32 Regkey's and RegValue's were found. All items where fixed.
  • Ran Ad-Aware scan again. 0 Objects found.
  • Restarted Windows. A Microsoft Internet Explorer type page pops up with a 'about:blank' title, and http:/downloads.thecompetentone.com/httpdownloads.thecompetentone.com.htm in the address bar. No page loaded, and I however will not and did not visit that site, for I do not trust it. Zango pop up; stating its a "search assistant", and that it's "downloads managed by Media Gateway, and includes Zango toolbar". Requires "18 years of age to accept agreement". I closed these.
  • Ran AVG anti-virus. Virus is detected in temporary folder.
  • Ran Spybot Search & Destroy. It stops running and reloads. I start scan again; 14 Registreykey's are found. 9 problems are fixed, and 5 are not. "Some files could not be fixed; the reason could be that the associated files are still in use (in memory). This could be fixed after a restart...". These 5 unfixed problems are identified as: xflive; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE...
  • Restart windows. Spybot Search & Destroy starts scan before startup of desktop, icons, ect.. (this is a good thing). 14 Registry changes detected; same amount as before. 14 "fixed" this time.
  • http:downloads.thecompetentone.com/...pops up again. Zango pops up again. (step 6).
  • Run AVG anti-virus. "Trojan horse Collected.AE found; path: C:\documents and setting\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\installer.exe. "deleted by AVG successfully".
  • Restarted computer. http:downloads.thecompetentone.com/... and Zango pop up again.
  • Ad-Aware system scan. No objects detected; however, AVG detects virus in: \Owner\Local Settings\Temp. Screen oddly flashes, but Ad-Aware continues scanning (could be irrelevant).
  • Restarted computer. Same virus detected (\Owner\Local\Temp..Another virus detected: JSDownloaderSM (temporary file). http.downloads.thecompetentone.com/... and Zango pop up again.
  • Restarted computer.
  • Virus found in Temp\installer.exe
http.downloads.thecompetentone.com/... and Zango pop up again.
  • Ran hijackthis; posted below:
Could it be that items re-install themselfs?

Hi Zhuko
Welcome to Geeks to go

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00DBDAC8-4691-4797-8E6A-7C6AB89BC441} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\mllji.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: CControl Object - {3643ABC2-21BF-46B9-B230-F247DB0C6FD6} - C:\Program Files\E2G\IeBHOs.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Windows 128bit Subsystem] C:\WINDOWS\System32\system12.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Java] C:\wx.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [webHancer Survey Companion] "C:\Program Files\webHancer\Programs\whSurvey.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [noC=] c:\windows\mrjj.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: mllji - mllji.dll (file missing)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

webHancer

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in add/remove in your next response

Please delete these folders using Windows Explorer(if present):

C:\Program Files\E2G
C:\Program Files\webHancer

Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present):
Use windows search facility if you have trouble finding these files.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\mllji.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\system12.exe
C:\wx.exe
c:\windows\mrjj.exe

Next

Go to Start > Run and type Services.msc then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below service:

Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (lsass)

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, under the General tab click the Stop button, then click the drop-down box to change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Open HiJackThis, click on None of the above, just start the program. Now, click on the Config button (bottom right), click on Misc Tools, then click on Delete an NT Service. A window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name):

lsass

Click OK.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Click YES.

After the reboot
  • Please go to Jotti's malware scan
  • Copy and paste the following file path into the "File to upload & scan" box on the top of the page:
    • C:\WINDOWS\System32\framse.exe
  • Click on the submit button
  • Please post the results in your next reply.
If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :)
