[Saban]

Okay here is what's up... (background)

I have run Spybot S&D, Adware, CWS shredder, and my anti-virus is Norton. All of these programs have the most updated verison running right now.

However Spybot S&D always finds that I have a version of CWS installed on my computer, and of course Spybot and any of my other spyware removal programs cannot remove it.

Install and run it. The windows tab should be opened in the upper left of the program. Click analyze and then click run cleaner.

Scan with HijackThis again and place a check next to these items:

Close all other windows except HijackThis, and hit Fix Checked


Please download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Ewido trojan scanner:

• When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
• When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
• From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
• After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"), click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run, so time to go get a drink and a snack....
• If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
• When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Save this we will need you to post it for us later.

Please scan with spybot then when its done right click and create a log. post the log back here.

Post the spybot log, the ewido log, and a new HJT log for us.

Saban,

You are running the old version of Spybot. I highly suggest you download the newest verion and you might want to also check to see if you have the most recent version of Adaware SE.

Spybot Full Scan
1st Go to add/remove programs in your control panel and uninstall Spybot Search & Destroy.
Next, please download Spybot-S&D from here:

Install Spybot-S&D and run it. Select "Search for updates" and then select all available updates. Click on the drop-down box in the top center to choose a download location nearest to you. Then click "Download updates". When all updates have downloaded, close Spybot-S&D, and then run it again. Click on "Check for problems". When the scan has finished, select any entries listed in red and click "Fix selected problems". Then please restart your computer again.

Now make sure you have the version of Adware SE 1.06, if not run through these steps.
Full Ad-Aware Scan
Please download Ad-Aware SE) and install it. If you already have Ad-Aware SE, please configure it as indicated below. (Note that Ad-Aware SE is free for non-commercial, non-governmental, and non-educational use.) If you have a previous version of Ad-Aware, please install Build 1.06r1.

1) Run the Webupdate feature. (Click on the Globe icon, Click connect, Click OK, Click Finish.)

2) Set up the Configurations (Gear wheel at the top) as follows:

• General Button > Safety & Settings: Check (Green) all three.
• Tweak Button > Cleaning Engine > UNcheck "Always try to unload modules before deletion".

3) To start the scan, Click > "Scan Now"

• Deselect "Search for negligible risk entries" as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.
• Select "Search for low-risk threats"
• Select "Perform full system scan"
• Click Next

4) When the scan has completed, select Next.

• In the Scanning Results window, select the "Scan Summary" tab.
• Check all objects found in the Critical Objects tab that you wish to remove
• Click Next, Click OK.
• Restart the computer

Didn't know my Spybot S&D was an old version. I have taken your suggestion and downloaded the newest version and downloaded all available updates. When I did a system scan with Spybot S&D. I came up with these results.

Prevention is good

To reduce the re-infection potential for malware and protect yourself against spyware, here are a few helpful suggestions:
1. Keep Windows and Internet Explorer current with the latest critical security updates from Microsoft. This will patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer. You CANNOT complete this update using an alternate browser.

2. Run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep its definitions up-to-date. If you are thinking about switching, there are a some good free Antivirus programs that are decent, including AVG and Avast!.
