Hi,
I got a message from a friend on AIM today that had a link and i clicked on it and it right away my virus scan came up and told me that there were two viruses found and that they were deleted. Also at that moment my AIM started sending the same message I got to all of my buddies. I've tried to fix this myself but can't because next time i signed on it did it again. Here is my HJT log. Please help.

Hello Thrice909 and welcome back.

You're log IS clean, however if you say you are still getting the virus, you can try this. You will want to print this out so you will have it with you as we will be going into Safe Mode.

STEP 1:

Download AIMFix and save it to your desktop.
Reboot into Safe Mode. You can do this by rebooting your computer and tapping F8 as it is starting up, then selecting Safe Mode from the menu.

Double click on the AIMFix file and let it run. When it is finished reboot your computer normally.

STEP 2:

please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log. Thanks! :tazz:

Thanks for helping me. The scan said i had no viruses. The AIM fix also said it didn't find anything. I don't get it. I'll try signing on AIM again and see if it does the same thing. Here is a new Hijack This log. Please look over it and see if anything has changed because I've been getting virus alerts but it's says all but one have been deleted. I'll let you know if I have another problem with AIM tomorrow. Please lave this topic open for another day or two. Thanks again.

Welcome Thrice909,

You're new log is still clean. I would like you to run this scan for me. Also, is AIM working yet?

Please follow the instructions provided, you may want to print out these instructions and use them as a reference.

Please download ewido security suite it is a free version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will now open to the main screen.
  • When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
  • Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
Close ewido security suite.

Post the report for me in your next reply. Thanks :tazz:
