[heavenbound18]

I have run several sypware removal programs as well as norton. None of these have found winfixer 2005. However everytime that i logon I get the winfixer popup. I posted the HiJack this log, can you tell me what I need to remove to fix this problem?

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
• This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
• After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
• Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
• You will first be presented with a warning.

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Once I done everything and posted everything that was requested, I restarted. Once I got logged in the WinFixer 2005 popup came up again. It is also still showing in my processes. Here is what is showing in my process, UWFX5_0001_N57M2811NetInstaller.exe. The popup that comes up when I log in says, WinFixer 2005, the current application is currently unavailable. I am able to stop the process.

If you use Windows XP, Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also.

• Open HiJackThis
• Click on the configure button on the bottom right
• Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
• Click on "Delete File on Reboot"
• Navigate to this file - C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\CONFLICT.1\UWFX5_0001_N57M2811NetInstaller.exe
• Double click on that file.
• HJT asks you if you want to reboot, now. Click "YES".

I have removed what you have requested. However when I went to "delete file on reboot" I was unable to find that file. I looked everywhere for the file but was not able to find it. I went ahead with the reboot and upon logon I no longer get the pop up for WinFixer 2005 and it was not running in my processes.

Great job, it appears your computer is clean

Ensure you rehide your “hidden files and folders” back to the way they were.

Now that your system is Malware Free, it is important to reset your system Restore. Click Here to learn how to.

I recommend that you Defrag your computer before setting your Restore points:

Go to start>all programs>accessories>system tools>Disk Defragmentor Make sure it set to the proper drive (default should be your main driver) and click on defragment


Might I suggest the following Free Spyware programs, if you don't already have them, for added security, you can download them at the following links. These programs work great for detection:

Ad-aware SE
Spybot S&D
Microsoft Anti-Spyware


If you are unhappy with your current antivirus and want to replace it or if you dont already have one, I suggest one of these free programs:
*Note - do not use more than one anti-virus program as it will more than likely cause conflict.

Avast
AntiVir

IE/Spyad

A Firewall is a must! Here are 3 good free versions:
(do not have more than one firewall running on your system)

There are other options other than Internet Explorer for a browser, which some say have better security. Two of them are:

Firefox
Opera

If you decide to keep Internet Explorer, This site is a great source for tightening up security on It's settings.

Make sure that you keep your Operating System and IE updated with the latest Critical Security Updates from Microsoft...they usually come out once a month, on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!! This was the craziest thing that I have ever encountered. I currently use Adware SE and Norton Internet security and Norton Anti-Virus. They all have done fine. I am going to look into FireFox as opposed to Internet Explorer. Thank you again!!!!!!!!!!
