I'm new to this. I attempted to remove winfixer and the mljjj.dll file. Windows attempts to but does not restart. The bars scroll across the screen for a while and nothing happens. Of course the system restore points were turned off. Is there any way to recover? I know I'm not giving enough info but I'm upset and not sure what to give. :tazz: :)

Sorry I could not get back earlier. I was able to start Windows by adding a parallel copy on my C: drive and copy my files. I then tried to repair Windows (XP) and I was able to start the old copy. I now have two copies of Windows on the unpartitioned C: drive. The copy that gives me access to much of my software does not show my dvd drives as available. I tried uninstalling them and reinstalling but that didn't work. The drives do show up if I boot from Windows(2). Vundo seems to be gone from Windows(1) [I eliminated the mljjj.dll files and keys] but the winfixer dialog box keeps popping up during start-up. I don't have access to norton av because the system can't find some files. I'm afraid to see if my internet connection works because I am unprotected. I may have to wipe the drive but I would like to avoid the reinstall of all the software. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Download HijackThis and post a logfile:
  • Download HijackThis.
  • Create a folder named "HijackThis". To create a folder:
    • Go to My Documents.
    • Right-click and select New> Folder.
    • Name the folder as "HijackThis".
  • Extract the contents of hijackthis.zip into the folder you've just created.
  • Open HijackThis.exe
  • Click on "Do a system scan and save a logfile".
  • After the scan is complete a Notepad window will popup.
  • In the Notepad window, go to Edit> Select all and then Edit> Copy.
  • Paste the log into your next reply.
Do NOT fix anything until we check your log. You can cause serious damage to your operating system if you fix a valid entry.

This is the log file after running cleanup. The winfixer pop-up did not appear. Now I am left with my hatchet job where my DVD drives do not show up and some of my software (NAV) does not run. I would like to fix this without starting from a clean drive if possible. Thanks
