Hi and thanks for reading this,

Here's my problem: 2 days ago Iinstalled a p2p program called Warez. This program tried to install Newdot 3.88 on my system. I have The Cleaner running, it detected it, kinda stopped the installation. After that, I removed the p2p program, and used The Cleaner to remove newdot.

I restarted Windows (xp) and got the message, under Rundll window: C:\progra_1\newdot_1\newdot not found. My network and internet connection were not working at all at this point.

I followed some advices found on forums:

removed in add/remove programs: newdot (they all say to do this before using any other program, but I did'nt knew at that point)

Used spyware/virus/adware removal programs:

-ad aware
-agv virus scan
-ewido security suite
-pc rescue
-cwshredder
-registry mechanics
-spybot
-spyware blaster
-cleanup
-newdot removal tool

Removed newdot folder

Removed lines concerning newdot with HijackThis (always following advices given in reply to other people's post on tech forums), and with LSPFix

Now the situation is that my internet/network conections are working again, but FireFox will partially load the start page then keep loading forever. I noticed that when FireFox does this, csrss.exe is using almost all my cpu. If I shut down FireFox (must do this with ctrl+alt+del), csrss.exe stops working.

I also found that IE was slow, but it's been a long time since I've used this browser, so I can't realy tell....

Thanks in advance for your help

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Something is still not right.

Please go HERE (Microsoft website) using Internet Explorer (not Firefox or any other browser as they won't work)
  • Click on Windows Validation Assistant
  • Click on the Validate Now button.
  • Be patient while the ActiveX loads, do not click on any links.
  • Read the instructions on this page while it's loading. You will be prompted to install - click YES.
  • Enter your product key then click continue
  • When it says "Validation Complete" please click Continue to return to your previous activity
  • Copy what it says and paste it here.
