I am having trouble with Outlook 2002. After I enter my password, it starts receiving mail and the cursor disappears. When it is finished receiving mail, it hangs. If I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL, the cursor pops up and lets me continue. My system is clean of spyware and viruses (I already posted in the Malware removal forum.) I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
Ilana

I would try to repair the Office installation:

Start -> Control Panel -> Add & Remove Programs -> Scroll down to Office XP and click Change

You should get the Office XP installation window. Select the option to Repair, and restart the system. If that doesnt work then, uninstall Office XP, delete the Microsoft Office folder under C:\Program Files (if you used the default install location). Restart the computer, and install Office XP. Hope that this helps and please post back either way.

You should also download the latest Service Pack for your version of Office at Microsoft Office Homepage.

Here is a direct link to the Office XP Service Pack 3 download:

Hope that this helps.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! The repair didn't work, but the uninstall did the trick. Not only is Outlook working properly, but I can now send email from Outlook instead of having to log on to Verizon. I was told that I couldn't send email from Outlook because Verizon didn't allow it. I sent a test message to myself and it worked fine. I'm in the process of installing the updates right now.

Thanks again,
Ilana
