I have tried to download "Hijack this" and it is telling me that I don't have permission to do so.

I have a trojan on my computer which is called: nvctrl.exe

It is in the following folder - C:\Windows\System32

I have run PestPatrol by EZArmor and it will not remove it.

The instructions in PestPatrol state that I must manually remove the file by restarting WindowsXP in DOS, which I cannot do.

Any help in removing this would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the link worked. Thank you. Here is the log. There are now several files which are showing as trojans, including - ncompat.tlb, msvol.tlb and others. Any help fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

You are currently using HijackThis from a temporary directory, this can cause problems.
HijackThis creates backups, these are needed in case of any recovery issues.
Please create a directory on your C:\ drive called C:\HJT, download and unzip HijackThis into that directory. Run the program from that directory from now on.

STEPS For Creating Folder
1. Please go to My Computer, open your C:\ drive, Select: New >> Folder and name the folder HJT.

2. Download HijackThis to the new folder:

3. Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.
You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with a new Hijack log in your next reply.
