I'm a software developer at a small company (C# Winforms/ASP.NET, T-SQL VS.NET 2005). I've been promoted from "Software Developer" to "Lead Developer". Since this is a small company, and my boss is flexible, she's asked me what title I would like. This got me thinking about a debate I've heard in the past regarding "Software Developer" vs. "Programmer" vs. "Software Engineer".

So I really have 2 questions...
1) Regarding my "Software Developer" position I've held here, is it better to keep that title on my resume, or should I use "Programmer", "Software Engineer", or something else? What looks better on a resume?

2) Regarding my promotion to "Lead Developer", what title should I choose?
- Lead Developer
- Lead Software Developer
- Software Developer, Lead
- Software Developer III (or some number)
- ____________ (something else)
?

Thanks
