Prior to posting my HijackThis log, I have followed all the instructions to the best of my ability (which is very limited, I can assure you). I would appreciate any help to assist me in understanding how to read and react to my log. I think that all the "015" items are problematic, as well as, the item with the word "dogpile" in it. The only item in "R" that seems to belong is "dellnet". I am clueless about how to proceed. Thanks for your help. Here is my log...

Hi sammyboy

You certainly have a few problems.

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.

Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Please don't attempt to install Service Pack 2 until all the malware is removed.

Thanks. I will do that when I get home on Monday. I'm confused about the sentence that says please don't install until all malware is removed. Am I ready to install?

Hi sammyboy

We would really like to help you. You have an infection that needs some work with you to fix. For the removal of the infection and to help prevent you becoming re-infected it's quite important that SP1a is properly installed.

We really need to have this service pack installed before we start the fixing work. If you have downloaded it - did you install it from Microsoft's Express Install or did you do the full download? Did you have any trouble installing it? You need to let us know.

Your log is not showing that it's installed. Please install the Service Pack and do a new log for us. Then we can start helping you.
