I hope someone can help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been infected with this doggone thing!It seems to go by many names, but it all boils down to the same thing! It is driving me nuts! My McAfee picks it up, upon start up everytime, but when I am prompted to remove the unwanted PUP (whatever that is), McAfee says it cannot be reomved because it is attached to a program...

I have also run Trend Micro, follwing their instructions (Maybe I didn't do it right), but the stupid thing obviously reattached itself.

I have also installed Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta.....it finds it, and removes it and all components, but low and behold....it comes right back!

I am at my wits end! If someone can please help, i would appreciate it!

You are currently running HijackThis from a temporary directory. Please create a new folder on your C:\ drive and rename it something you will remember such as C:\HJT, the move HijackThis.exe to that folder. You will need to print out these instructions for a reference or you can
save them by copying and pasting them into notepad and saving the text file to the desktop.

This process will take a few steps, please take your time and follow the directions in the order posted.

Since you are having issues with Internet Explorer, I would recommend using Firefox. You can download it Here

Now lets do the following:

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
• This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
• After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
• Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
• You will first be presented with a warning.

Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Now close all browsers and open windows except for HijackThis, then click on the Fix Checked button. Close HijackThis.

Using MyComputer navigate to the following folder and remove the following:

C:\PROGRA~1\CURSOR~2\ <-- Folder

C:\PROGRA~1\ will be your C:\PROGRAMFILES, just delete the folder I gave you above.

Reboot and post a new HijackThis log by using Add Reply

My computer is running better, but IE still has a tendency to freeze up, still get some error messages on shutdown, etc. Prior to the adware problem, I didn't have those issues. Any suggestions?

Other than that, it is MUCH better!

Hi there!

Just to clarify a bit, I was having the errors, before taking the steps described here to fix the initial problems. I don't believe the "fix" is causing the error message(s).

I will make a note of the errors, and post them for you.
