Hi there all, I have been sent here to share my problem with you guys - I first posted my problem in the Windowds XP section and makai has been helping me but unfortunately he was unable to solve the problem so he suggested I put my post here. My laptop (A packard bell easy note H) is a year old and froze yesterday, so I turned it of and re started it. Only now after I have typed my password in and it takes me to the desktop nothing opens i.e. MSN doesn’t pop up and McAfee doesn’t open up for me to type my password in. If I click on anything to open - internet explorer, AOL, MSN anything it just won’t open. And the only time anything does open is when I click for the laptop to turn off or restart it either says that programme is not responding or cannot open as windows is shutting down. I am unable to run in normal mode so I cannot install/run any of the malware programs. If anyone can help me please do as I really don’t have a clue what to do. Here is the link to the other page that I posted on so you can see what has transpired and what I have tried to do to solve the problem. http://www.geekstogo...elp-t84872.html

Hello Tabby and welcome to GeeksToGo! Sorry for the delay in getting to you, but we are extremely busy around here and have a very limited number of helpers and time to devote to logs. I am currently working on your log and will post again when a staff member reviews it.

Thank you for your patience!

Regards,
Matt :tazz:

Hello Tabby!

I need to see a HijackThis log for your computer to help you. Please download HijackThis from HERE to your computer if possible. If you cannot get it to download, download it to a working computer and transfer it using a floppy disk, a flash drive, or a cd. If possible, try to run the program in normal mode by clicking "Do a system scan and save a logfile" then copy and pasting the text that opens up into a reply in this thread. If it does not work in normal mode, give it a shot in safe mode. You can reach safe mode by rebooting your computer and then repeatedly tapping F8 as soon as it begins to boot again.

Again, please get a log in normal mode if possible but safe mode will suffice. Paste the log into this thread when you have it.

Regards,
Matt :tazz:
