Uhm... c is the first version...c++ is the evolution of c. Let's say that c and c++ are being less and less used since the dominant languages have to do with the internet like sql, .net, java, php ecc.

Definetely, to have a good website and chat you need to know php, you can also have a java applet for a chat window but if you don't know php you can't set it up...so php and sql are essential.

Object Oriented programming is considered easier because you just drag and drop various buttons, windows, icons etc onto a form, then write some code to do stuff when somebody interacts with those things on the form.

To do that under previous programming languages would be a chore as you'd spend all day just getting that right.

As for a chatroom - perhaps you should try walking before you can run. A chatroom is a massively horrendeous project which uses all kinds of things that you probably won't understand. Therefore stick to smaller projects for a while.

It sounds as if you talking about Visual programming languages, not object-orientated programming (OO). OO programming is a view or style of programming that centers on thinking of a program as a collection of entities (aka objects) that interact with each other and are the "meat" of the programming as opposed to as opposed to just a list of instructions or commands.

Cheers,
Tom
