WinXP SP2 system with Norton AV always enabled in all areas. Hardware firewall & SP2 firewall running.
Both SpyBot S&D and Trend Housecall report 3 registry entries with cmdService. Neither can remove it/them. I have run CCleaner, CleanUp, Ad-Aware SE 1.06, Ewido Security, Trend Housecall, TrojanHunter and Panda Active Scan. Ran CWShredder several times, caused a Windows Blue Screen system failure and shut down 3 times. Ran it again after all of the above and it didn't find anything. Ewido found 44 items the first time I ran it, 24 the second time 2 days later. AdAware found and removed 20 items. Norton AV keeps reporting Bloodhound6 while Panda Active Scan is running. Panda was the last scan run and it found 2 virus and 3 Adware items that it didn't or couldn't fix. WinPatrol kept reporting c:\windows\system32\dmhej.exe trying to be added to startup. Couldn't identify this file on the internet so I rebooted in Safe Mode Command Prompt, renamed the file to dmhej.ex1. Rebooted in normal mode and this time was able to delete the file. Emptied recycle bin & Norton protected files recycle bin.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from:
http://swandog46.gee.../Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{17874A09-FD31-4F02-AF47-1883DD1D6181}: NameServer = 85.255.113.140,85.255.112.99

Click FIX CHECKED. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log into this topic.

Your log is clean :tazz:

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
To protect yourself further:
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
I also suggest that you delete any files from "temp", "tmp" folders. In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" => "Internet Options" => "Delete Files" and select the box that says "Delete All Offline Content" and click on "OK" twice. Also, empty the recycle bin by right clicking on it and selecting "Empty Recycle Bin". These steps should be done on a regular basis.
