I downloaded and installed a program to generate codes which required me to re-boot after installation - I should know better!!

After the re-boot Windows would not open, it just kept re-booting over and over.

I re-installed my Windows CD which allowed me to open up. However a box came up entitled "Microsoft .NET Framework" saying:
'An unhandled exception has occured in a component in your application. Click continue and application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.'
It gives me the option to show Details or Continue. The contents of the details is attached. Continue will not work. Underneath that box is another of Windows installer trying to prepare to install, but never does.

I have tried to install SP1a, SP2, neither of which will complete. I get a box saying "access denied" even tho I am the administrator.

I have completed all the antivius/malware programs listed in your posting (cleanUp!, Ad-aware, CWShredder, Ewido, Trojan Hunter) I cannot install SP2 as mentioned before.

Windows will not let me shut down normally due to the two windows (NET Framework and Windows Installer) being open. I have to switch to my other User name and shut down/re-boot from there.

I have my HD partitioned with my important files OFF the C: drive.

Would you please help me to get rid of whatever is causing Windows to act this way, or explain how to remove my windows program and re-install it on an NTFS system?

Let me know if you need any further information.

Thank you in advance for your assistance,

JDW
